• Oral ulcers (aphthous stomatitis)

What are aphthous oral ulcers?

Aphthous ulcers are small, shallow, painful sores (less than 10 mm in diameter) that appear one to several at a time on the inside of the cheeks, tongue, or inner lips. They typically have a white center with a reddish border. While the exact cause is unknown, stress, fatigue, and nutritional imbalance are believed to contribute.

Dosage and Administration

• Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area once to several times daily.

Do NOT use in the following cases ■

(Failure to follow these instructions may worsen symptoms or increase the risk of side effects.)

Do not use if you fall under any of the following categories:

• People suspected of having infectious oral ulcers
  (Consult a doctor, dentist, pharmacist, or registered drug seller.)

  • White patches that can be easily wiped off with gauze and spread throughout the mouth
    (Possible oral candidiasis)

  • Presence of yellow pus on the affected area
    (Possible bacterial infection)

  • Multiple small blisters (rice- to bean-sized) inside the mouth, or blisters/rashes on lips or skin
    (Possible viral infection)

  • Systemic symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, or swollen lymph nodes
    (Possible viral infection)

• People with oral infections

  • Do not use on areas affected by periodontal disease, gingivitis, or other oral infections, as steroid use may worsen infections.

• People whose symptoms do not improve after 5 days of use

• People whose symptoms worsen after 1–2 days of use
